For our weekly Stereo Daily spotlight, we are diving into the world of SMEEZ, a Parisian artist who is redefining what it means to be a modern independent creative. From his early roots in electronic music to his current focus on rap and slam poetry, SMEEZ’s journey is a testament to the power of constant evolution and raw self-expression. Sitting in his home studio in Paris, he is crafting a sound that is as unpredictable as it is authentic.
SD: If you had to describe Smeez to someone who has never scrolled past your Spotify profile, what would you say?
SMEEZ: I started by making electronic music, then moved on to rap beat making and I started to Rap! Recently I have been experimenting new things like Slam and Poetry.
SD: What does your “studio” look like right now? Is it a professional booth, or a mic in a bedroom corner?
SMEEZ: I have my “home studio” in my small flat in Paris; nothing fancy!.
SD: What is the one lyric you’ve written that you are most proud of so far?
SMEEZ: I wrote this recently: “On doit lâcher prise pour mieux se retrouver. On se perd pour se renouveler. C’est un nouveau chapitre qui s’inscrit.”. Its just a thought but I find it powerful.
SD: Are you writing lyrics on your phone or in a physical notebook?
SMEEZ: Both! But mostly on my phone because it is easier and quicker.
SD: One Hip-Hop artist (dead or alive) you’d love to have dinner with?
SMEEZ: Masego.
SD: Is there a specific track that feels special for you?
SMEEZ: Not really, it depends on my mood!.
SD: What’s your “secret weapon” for staying motivated when you are just starting out?
SMEEZ: Wanting to do something different, to express feelings by original ideas.
SD: If you had to pitch your music to a new listener, what would you say to them?
SMEEZ: I would say that I am open to many ideas and I’m still looking for something new, so you never know what will be next!.
Final Thought
SMEEZ is an artist who refuses to be boxed in by genres or expectations. His willingness to “let go to find himself” is exactly what makes the independent scene so vital in 2026. Whether he is dropping a rap beat or a spoken-word poem, the core of his work remains a restless, creative spirit that is always reaching for the next discovery.
