Bon Iver Unveils Volumes Archival Series and New Single

Justin Vernon has officially launched VOLUMES, a new recurring archival series dedicated to the expansive history of Bon Iver. This project serves as a curated exploration of the band’s “many eras and multitudes,” offering fans access to previously unreleased recordings, demos, and live captures that have remained in the vault for years. The announcement marks a significant pivot toward legacy preservation for the Grammy-winning outfit.

The Debut of Volumes: One

The first installment of the series, titled VOLUMES: ONE “SELECTIONS FROM MUSIC CONCERTS 2019-2023 BON IVER 6 PIECE BAND”, focuses on the evolution of the group’s live performances. This collection is not categorized as a standard studio album or a traditional live record. Instead, it is a specialized compilation designed to highlight the collaborative chemistry of the 6-piece ensemble during their most recent global tours. The full release is scheduled to arrive via Jagjaguwar on April 3.

New Music: Heavenly Father

Accompanying the series announcement is the release of a new single, “HEAVENLY FATHER.” While the song has long been a staple of the band’s live repertoire and appeared in various forms, this archival version provides a definitive look at the track’s development. The release emphasizes natural language processing trends in music discovery, as fans increasingly seek high-fidelity, authentic recordings over polished studio edits. This archival movement aligns with broader industry shifts toward artist-owned catalogs and deep-dive fan experiences.
